EAP Teaching Practice

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Entry requirements:
-Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area
-Cambridge Delta or TEFLQ or equivalent
Course duration:
80 hours (incl. 10 hours EAP teaching practice)
(5 hours input on a weekly basis / 20 hours input per month).
Mondays and Thursdays 10am-12.30pm UK time
General course description:
The course is divided into 4 modules:
TP101 Input: EAP & study skills/Needs analysis/Students' difficulties (surveys); EAP syllabus and course design/ Students & courses evaluation; Learning styles & cultural awareness
TP102 Input: Methodology and materials/evaluating materials; Academic skills (all-skills approach; vocabulary development; lectures note-taking techniques; academic writing key features)
TP103 Input: Academic skills (Writing from reading & listening; synthesising; genre & subject-specific language; how to teach note-taking/making from reading passages at an academic level; how to teach note-taking/making from lectures; speaking for academic purposes- delivering presentations; references/research skills; examination skills)
TP104 Practice (10 hours in online and live streaming lessons + 10 hours reflection & tutorials/tutors to candidates and candidates to learners)
Assessment:
At the end of the course, there is a 3-hour computer-based examination divided into three parts: theory, practice, reflection
Fees:
Tuition fee: 880 GBP
Exam fee: 110 GBP

The Main Course Tutor is Dr Paschalis Chliaras FHEA (a Cambridge Delta Main Course Tutor with many years of experience in EAP) assisted by experienced EAP tutors.
