A Bit About Us

The institution Applied Language Studies House was created in Greece in 2016. It is composed of a) the “ALS House Cambridge Delta, Train the Trainer, CELT-P, CELT-S and TKT centre”, b) the ALS House Delta Module 1 and TKT exam centre in Athens (GR091) and in Thessaloniki (GR092), Greece, c) the International English Language Center (IELC) that offers IELTS, Pre-sessional EAP/ ESP/Business, CPE, CAE, FCE, PET, KET, BEC, YLE courses to primary and secondary school students, tertiary education students and public and private sector employees, d) the “Research Centre for Applied Languages and Linguistics” to undertake research in the fields of Language teaching & assessment and Applied Linguistics and e) the «ALS House Publications» which deals with the production and publication of books and electronic journals related to the fields of Applied Languages and Linguistics. ALS House Publications has been publishing the Journal of Applied Languages and Linguistics since December 2017. This Journal became a conference brand in 2019 and since then our institution holds the International Conference on Language Education and Research

Τhe institution Applied Language Studies House has an academic structure and pioneering organisation at both a national and international level. It covers a wide range of English language education based on three pillars: Student and Teacher training, Research Centre with a scientific council that consists of renowned educators and researchers from the USA, the UK, the EU and Australia and a Publishing House that fosters and presents educators’ and researchers’ work and research findings.

In 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, our TQ candidate and EFL student numbers increased dramatically which allowed us to set up our branch in Thessaloniki, Greece (GR092) and our Applied Language Studies House Ltd in Birmingham, UK.

We are committed to equipping our students and trainees with the necessary knowledge, skills and learning experience that will assist them in achieving their greatest potential in order to adapt and adjust to a diverse and ever changing society and labour market. We are dedicated to creating a challenging learning environment which encourages the cultivation of an entrepreneurial mindset among our students and trainees, thus broadening their horizons and enhancing their career prospects.

Recognition, Monitoring and Partnerships

Applied Language Studies House is assessed and certified on a regular basis by national and international governmental and independent organisations:

• National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP) which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports and is based in Athens. EOPPEP is the statutory body of the development and implementation of the Hellenic Qualifications Framework (NQF) in correspondence with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

• Cambridge Assessment English

• British Council in Athens, Greece. ALS House is a regognised member of the ADDvantage scheme of the BC in Greece. According to the BC in Athens, Greece, our EFL IELC is considered one of the quality language centres in Greece by the BC.

• Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, in Birmingham, UK: with a network of over 3200 local businesses, they help connect, support and grow Applied Language Studies House Ltd in Birmingham

• ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office), the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.

• Company’s House (gov.uk), our Applied Language Studies House Ltd is a registered company (Company number 12762534)

• Macmillan Education: Applied Language Studies House and Macmillan Education have entered into a strategic partnership that provides EFL/ESL teachers with solutions that enhance the teaching and learning experience for everyone, at every stage of education. Applied Language Studies House will be an official distributor of Macmillan Education in Greece and will be handling queries and books orders from April 2021 onwards.
