Abstract
A current challenge for English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers is how to effectively combine traditional and contemporary methods to create an efficient hybrid methodological repertoire. This paper presents classroom-based research aimed to explore hybrid approaches to integrating EFL development and intercultural awareness raising along with future skills development, which have become increasingly relevant in the contemporary context, particularly due to the growing presence of emerging technological tools, which serve as modern instruments in both foreign language (FL) learning and teaching. Four types of tasks were piloted using hybrid methods and techniques with EFL student teachers, specifically through in-class activities and online tasks. The content analysis suggests that students are particularly motivated by reel-based videos, as these cater to shorter attention spans and address current, relevant topics aligned with their interests. The participants also perceive that combining traditional and modern, online-based methods provides a more personalized learning experience.
