The aim of this chapter is to give an overview on Critical Discourse Analysis, its objectives, methods, theoretical origins, and main approaches. An exposition of Critical Discourse Analysis, its historical origins, and progress is presented respectively. Moreover, some of the most central theoretical and methodological theories within this research paradigm, mainly Wodak, van Dijk, and Fairclough’s approaches are reconsidered.
